The Recall of Blood Pressure Medications Continues to Expand The recall of medications that contain valsartan—popular drug used to treat heart failure and high blood pressure (HBP)—began in July 2018 and is still ongoing. The recall was issued after a probable carcinogen (a substance that could cause cancer) was found in the recalled medications. Since the initial discovery, several developments and recall expansions have been made.
